How Wilton Chocolate Melting Pots Are Bringing Sexy Back – 6 Great Ways To Use Melted Chocolate

A great tool on the market today, that is especially useful for those who work with melted chocolate a lot, is the Wilton Chocolate Pro Electric Melting Pot.  This small counter top appliance melts chocolate easily and keeps it warm as you take your time to make your chocolate confections.  But most people don’t want to invest their money into a product unless they know how they could use it in more ways than one.  That’s why I am going to tell you how Wilton Chocolate Melting Pots are bringing sexy back.

1.  Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Strawberries are one of the most common chocolate dipped fruits.  Great for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, and Valentine’s Day, this delectable treat is the George Clooney of desserts.  When these are present, you know your evening is set for romance.  This delicious combination is not only romantic but easy to make and perfect for an at-home date night.

 2. Other Dipped Fruits

Strawberries tend to get all the attention when it comes to dipping in chocolate, but what about all the other fruits?  Fruits that are great with chocolate include basically every kind of fruit, from Apples to Pears, Coconut to Pomegranates.  What is most important about dipping fruit into chocolate is knowing the flavor of chocolate that pairs best with that particular fruit.  For flavor pairings, check out this cheat sheet from KeyNotes magazine.

Since my favorite chocolate dipped fruit is bananas, I thought I would share the above recipe for Monkey Tails, courtesy of  This would be a great treat to make with your kids.

3.  Chocolate Fondue

Going in-line with dipped fruit, a chocolate fondue pot works a little differently but adds a bit of fun.  Instead of dipping fruit ahead of time and letting the chocolate harden, you cut the fruit into bite-sized pieces to be dipped and eaten at the same time.  Fondue is more of a chocolate sauce that is fun to dip cookies, cakes, and fruits.  This could be a great family treat or perfect for a date night at home.

4.Cake Pops and Marshmallow Pops

I have mentioned in previous posts that Cake Pops are on the rise in popularity and having a melting pot can make the process so much easier.  See my Cake Pops tutorial for detailed instructions.

Another easy “Pops” idea is using marshmallows instead of cake.  It is still a fun, sweet treat, but with a ton less calories.  You can dress the Marshmallow pops with toppings to give it an extra kick.  One simple recipe that is great for the summer, or any other time of year, is S’mores Marshmallow Pops.

 5.  Sweet and Salty Snacks

When thinking of chocolate dipped treats, one does not think of chocolate dipped potato chips first.  I know I sure don’t.  But this sweet and salty combination really does work.  The same can be said of chocolate dipped pretzels, nuts, and popcorn.  As a matter of fact, these sweet and salty treats go for big bucks at specialty shops like Kilwins.  These combinations can be made pretty easily at home for a fraction of the cost at a store.

 6.  Chocolate Dipped Cookies

Chocolate dipped cookies are another great treat to make for gifts or for yourself.  You could use store bought cookies, like Oreos, or homemade cookies like chocolate chip.  No matter what you pick, dipping your cookies in chocolate adds another layer to the complex flavors that are already present.  It is a great way to spice up snacks at parties or potlucks too, and can make a special treat for a loved one, even more special.

*Any recipe involving melted chocolate can be done without the use of the melting pot.  Other ways to melt chocolate would be with a double-boiler, microwave, or crock pot.

Very nice post. I really like the Haiku Deck presentations, it’s a very neat way of presenting the information.

The design of your site is also very nice and pleasant to look at. I wish I were so creative too!

Thanks Andrew. I was introduced to Haiku Deck by another WA person and I have to say that I really love it. I usually have my recipes and pictures all in the blog roll, but this helps to shorten it a little but still gives all the information I need to present. I’m glad you liked the site. 🙂
